PM urged to raise voice for legally binding climate agreement for SDG implementation

Some 23 organisations representing farmers, labour, civil society rights groups organised a Human Chain on Wednesday urging the prime minister to raise the demand for a legally binding climate treaty during the UN Sustainable Development Summit.
A legally binding climate treaty ‘is indispensable’ for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, they said while speaking at the human chain in front of the National Press Club in the capital, according to a press release.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka on Wednesday for joining the UN summit meeting to be held in New York next week.
They also urged her to demand a clear and effective guideline of financial arrangement that is required to make the SDGs successful, specially in the least developed countries.
These demands were raised at the human chain urging : ‘Dear PM, tell our voice in UN : Legally Binding Climate Agreement is Indispensible for SDG Implementation’.
EquityBD organised the human chain supported by CANSA, Action 2015 and joined by, among others, Bangladesh Krishak Federation, Bangladesh Bhumihin Somity, Bangladesh Krishak Federation, Unnayan Dhara, ARPAN, Jatiyo Sromik Jote and Public Service Institute.
