Chittagong landslide kills two

A woman and her daughter were killed in the port city in a landslide, triggered by heavy showers.
The deadly mudslide took place on Monday around 6:45am at Majhergona area under Bayezid police station.
The victims were identified as Parvin Akter, 30, and her daughter, Urmee Akhter alias Sathi, 5.
A sub inspector of Bayezid police, Manash Barua, said a heavy chunk of mud collapsed on their thatched house at the foothill, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
The SI said Parvin used to work as a domestic help. Her husband, Abul Khayer, is a bus conductor.
Another daughter and two sons of the family survived. The family migrated from Noakhali a few years ago and settled in Chittagong.
A year ago, the family moved to this shanty which was erected illegally on a government property at Jalalabad, the SI said.
He said the dead bodies were handed over to the husband without any postmortem. A case of unnatural death was registered.
