BAF chief takes office

The newly appointed Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Abu Esrar took over command of Bangladesh Air Force on Friday.
He succeeded the outgoing Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari.
A handing and taking over ceremony was held in the afternoon at the Air Headquarters.
Earlier in the morning Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari paid homage to the members of Armed Forces martyred during the war of liberation in 1971 by laying a floral wreath at Shikha Anirban. He also signed the visitor book there.
Before departing the Air Headquarters, outgoing Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari was presented a guard of honour.
Newly appointed air force chief was commissioned in General Duties (Pilot) Branch on February 01, 1981 as the age of 20. He hails from Gazipur.
The Air Marshal served in a number of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments.
He commanded a number of BAF bases as commander of BAF Base Bangabandu and BAF Base Zahurul Haque and BAF Base Paharkanchanpur.
He also served as the defence attaché in Moscow. Prior to his recent promotion, Abu Esrar had served as assistant chief of air staff (operations and training) since August 2009.
