Task force to protect environment

The deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka district has decided to form a task force of concerned government authorities to protect against environmental pollution, especially water pollution, air pollution and water bodies’ occupation.
The deputy commissioner of Dhaka, Md Tofazzol Hosen Miah made the decision public at a views exchange meeting with other organisations of the government, local government, journalists and environmentalists at Savar Upazila auditorium Saturday morning in Savar.
Dr Enamur Rahman, the local member of parliament, was the chief guest where Md Habibur Rahman, the superintendent of police, Dhaka district, was special guest. Among others Md Kamrul Hasan Mollah, upazila nirbahi officer of Savar, Md Aynal Haque, mayor of Savar municipality, Md Hafizur Rahman, deputy director of Department of Environment (DoE), Md Shamshuzzoha, sub-divisional engineer of Roads and Highway, all the chairmen of union parishads in Savar upazila were present.
Savar Upazila Parishad organised the views exchange meeting on ‘Environmental Pollution-Way of Solution: in the Perspective of Savar’ with the help of Nodi O Paribesh Unnayon Parishod Savar.
‘The task force will start action from the first day of June. It will run drives at least four days in a week to protect the environment, especially rivers, canals, highways and any other water bodies in the area,’ he said.
Salahuddin Khan Noyeem, secretary of the anti-corruption committee of Savar, demanded a high powerful task force against environmental pollution in the views exchange meeting, and that is when the DC announced the news of the task force.
