Literary award after Humayun introduced

A literary award has been introduced jointly by Exim Bank and fortnightly magazine Anyadin after the iconic novelist Humayun Ahmed.
The organisers at a press conference held at the Bangla Academy on Saturday said that the literary award, Exim Bank-Anyadin Humayun Ahmed Sahitya Puruskar, would be awarded to two writers every year on November 12, on the eve of Humayun’s birth anniversary.
A young writer will get Tk one lakh and a certificate when a senior writer will receive Tk five lakh and a certificate as recognition to his overall contribution to fiction.
‘It’s just an expression of our respect towards the late writer Humayun Ahmed. We believe the award will become a prestigious literary prize in the country’s literary scene’, said Mazharul Islam, editor of Anyadin.
Professor emeritus Anisuzzaman, poet-playwright Syed Shamsul Haq, governor of Bangladesh Bank SK Sur Chowdhury, Humayun’s widow Meher Afroz Shaon, Humayun’s younger brother cartoonist Ahsan Habib, among others  were present at the programme, which was chaired by Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy.
