Jute mill workers demonstrate in Khulna, Jessore

State-owned jute mill workers on Sunday brought out processions pressing for 5-point demands including allocation of adequate budgets in jute sector, payment of due wages and 20 per cent dearness allowance for them.
The processions were brought out at the state owned jute mills in Khulna and Jessore regions.
The programmes were being observed by the jute mill workers as a part of the 11-day programmes, called by the state-owned jute mills Oikya parishad leaders.
Workers iof Crescent, Platinum, Khalishpur, Star, Alim and Eastern jute mills in Khulna region and workers of JJI and Carpeting jute mills in Jessore region brought out processions in front of the gates of the respective mills.
The worker leaders urged Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation authorities to meet their demands immediately.
As per the programme, the workers would hold human chain on the city streets on April 15, rally on April 17 in industrial areas, rally on April 19, processions on several shifts on April 22 and public rally on April 24 in industrial areas.
